Alarm Lines

Building alarm and fire panel lines are a specialized type of analog dialer. It is absolutely possible to use these types of dialers with Atlas VOIP Services, so long as the correct configuration is in place on both Atlas' termination equipment and the dialer itself. There are also special considerations for battery backup/runtime for phone lines which have life safety considerations. For all of these reasons, if you intend to use our voice services to operate Fire or Alarm signaling panels, please let us know so that we can coordinate with you.

There are two main formats in use on most fire and alarm panels: Express 4+2, and ContactID. Atlas supports only panels using the 4+2 format. The reason for this is that most voice equipment has a specific rate at which it can recognize and translate DTMF tones, and ContactID exceeds this by a significant degree.  By placing your panel into Express 4+2 signaling mode, and adjusting our line to eliminate the echo cancellation typically employed on end-user facing lines, we can ensure that almost every panel will work reliably on our voice services.
