Timeshift Warning

You can pause and seek within the timeshift buffer (a.k.a., "live buffer") regardless of the rights governing Startover or Lookback (a.k.a. 'Catchup) content policies. Timeshift buffer is the amount of time that you can fall behind a live point while streaming a program.

Currently there is no user interface distinction between on-going catch-up and the timeshift buffer. This has caused confusion where both of the following are true:

  1. You are traversing the boundary from timeshift buffer to the startover / lookback source
  2. The startover / lookback rights prevent you from seeking forward (content providers ofter require this configuration to prevent users from skipping commercials)

This may result in coufusion over why you can seek in one area and not in another; further, you can't return to the rights free portion of the stream.
